An English Coastal Cottage in Beaulieu

Beaulieu House by the Sea
symmetry is perfect for an entrance, it creates a sense of balance and is the perfect introduction

Most coastal homes featured on my blog are usually Hamptons style and located in the USA, however, today I wanted to share an English coastal home. British interior designers tend to be more traditional than US designers and in this particular case, as this home's location to seaside and countryside go hand in hand, the designer has blended country and coastal and a smidgen of France for a more traditional look.

One thing that British 'coastal' homes usually have in common with their US counterparts is they can be built from similar weatherboards. I mention this as most UK buildings are built from brick or stone, there are very few wooden houses in the UK and the few that are, seem to be located either in areas like Suffolk or coastal locations such as this traditional cottage in Beaulieu, Hampshire.

The interior design of this coastal home is by Stephanie Dunning who works from her Wiltshire studio just outside Salisbury. Stephanie has a large portfolio of projects from large country homes and London houses to villa's in Italy and I believe her wide experience in design allows her to create something special in even the modest of homes.

Unfortunately there were only a few photos for me to share but if you like Stephanie's style, you can view her other projects over at her website, stephaniedunninginteriordesign.com or her Houzz profile (link provided at the top of this post).

I hope you are enjoying your week, we are having glimpses of summer and then it all turns to rain but hopefully our unsettled, Auckland weather will improve.
